Brockleby’s Pie Shop Grand Opening in Melton Mowbray.
Melton Mowbray – the Rural Capital of Food and proud home of the pork pie – is about to welcome an exciting new chapter in its rich food heritage with the grand opening of Brockleby’s Pie Shop on Saturday 18th October.

Nestled away on Church Street, only a stone’s throw from the beautiful St Mary’s Church, a landmark inspired by 12th-century cathedral design, the Pie Shop is set to become a vibrant new hub for food lovers. With its rustic country charm and passion for flavour, the shop will offer not only a wide range of delicious pies, teas, coffees but also themed dining evenings, hands-on food experience workshops, and community events designed to bring people together through food.
To celebrate the grand opening, the Pie Shop will host an all-day pie-eating competition – inviting locals and visitors alike to test their appetites and claim pie-fuelled glory. Alongside the fun, guests can enjoy freshly baked pies for sale, special tasters, and plenty more surprises throughout the day.
“We want the Pie Shop to be more than just a place to grab a bite – it’s about creating an experience,” said the Brockleby’s team. “From golden pastry to hearty fillings, and from interactive food experience workshops to evenings of good food and laughter, we’re here to celebrate the very best of Melton’s food culture.”
Whether you’re a long-time pie lover or just curious to see what’s baking, Brockleby’s Pie Shop promises to be the place where tradition meets creativity, right in the heart of Melton’s cobbled streets.

About Brockleby’s Pies
Brockleby’s Pies, based on Asfordby Hill in Melton Mowbray, was founded in 2003 by cattle farmer Ian Jalland whose family have farmed in the area for over 500 years. With a range of over 25 different pies, including the authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pie, is handmade at the Bakery which produces up to 10,000 pies a week.
We’re extremely proud to produce more pies than anyone else in the Borough of Melton, while remaining family-owned. We are known for our quirky and innovative pie names such as The Beaver, The Moo & Blue and The Penguin Pie and have won over 30 accolades at the annual British Pie Awards including ultimate prize ‘The Supreme Champion Pie’ in 2023. The meat and ingredients we use in our pies are sourced locally within a 30-mile radius. Provenance is the ethos of our business. Distribution channels include national mail order, hundreds of events and farmers markets each year and an established network of retail stockists.
Thousands of pie lovers who attend their Pie Making Workshops each year learn how to make the traditional Melton Mowbray pork pie. The Pie Making Experiences are so popular they now offer a portfolio of Workshops including Bread Making, Continental Bread Making, Sausage Making, Pizza Making and Pasta Making along with a dedicated Gluten Free Pizza Making session.
