
Melton Country Park & Visitor Centre
There's something for everyone at Melton Country Park all year round!
Melton Country Park is 140 acres of open green space just a ten minute walk from the town centre in Melton Mowbray. A haven for wildlife and an ideal place to get away from it all, it's perfect for walking, cycling, bird watching and family picnics.
The Country Park offers a range of things to explore in the outdoors, from wildlife lakes, open green space, footpaths trails, dog agility trails, gym equipment, children's play areas, football pitches, and a Visitor Centre with a café.
Visitors Centre and Café
The Visitor Centre is available to use by all visitors of the park. There is a café and toilet facilities here, which are open during the day. The centre is currently operated by Melton Space CIC, a voluntary organisation who run the café and a number of community workshops.
It's a good idea to make the Visitor Centre your first port of call as they have lots of friendly advice and information to help make the most of your day.
Activities for all
Sports facilities include football pitches and a cricket area. There are three play areas, including a Climbing Forest is designed for children of all ages. It has various climbing equipment and frames, a nest swing and a zip wire.
The Sensory Garden is an enclosed space near to the visitor centre, it is looked after by volunteers of both Friends of The Country Park and Melton In Bloom. It has been specially designed to appeal to all the five senses; sight, smell, touch, taste and sound, providing a tranquil place for reflection amongst fragrant plants and rustling leaves. Why not take a stroll up to the top of 40 Oaks Avenue for magnificent views of the park, or walk around the lake and see the resident water birds which have made the park their home.
Footpaths and cycle paths. The park is criss-crossed by various footpaths, including the Jubilee Way, a fifteen and half mile (24.9km) walk from Melton Mowbray into the picturesque Vale of Belvoir, and National Cycle Way 64, which runs from Market Harborough in South Leicestershire to Lincoln.
Great facilities to help you enjoy your visit
Toilets with disabled access and baby-changing facilities can be found at the Visitor Centre.
Dogs are welcome but must be under close control at all times and are not allowed in the children's play areas. There are two dog agility trails which provide a great form of exercise for your four-legged friend and a fun and engaging way to try out a variety of obstacles.
Whether you are looking to take part in organised activities, cycle around the lake, spend the day bird watching, breathe in the fresh air as you walk the woodland paths, or simply want to take in the stunning scenery - you'll find it here.
