Oakham Castle’s great hall is one of the finest surviving examples of domestic Norman architecture in Europe. However, despite a number of important excavations since the 1950s, very little is known about the rest of the castle. Join archaeologist Mathew Morris from University of Leicester Archaeological Services, who directed the most recent excavations at the castle, for a talk about the castle’s history and archaeology, and find out how new discoveries are helping to unlock the secrets of the castle’s construction, layout and role.
The talk starts at 7.30pm with doors opening at 7.00pm.
It’s £4 per person and pre-booking is essential.
