Stockyard Tuesday Market Tours
22 September @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
| £40Every Tuesday morning at 10am, Matt from Hidden Food Tours will be taking guests behind the scenes at Melton’s historic livestock market and Stockyard.
Melton Mowbray’s markets stretch back to before the Domesday Book, and the Tuesday market received a charter in 1324. On our new tours you’ll hear stories of Melton’s history, and how the markets still play a vital role in the town’s culture.
From jams and fruit vinegars foraged in the Derbyshire Peaks to Melton’s famous pork pies. From traditional Lincolnshire sausages to homemade authentic Asian curries, you’ll hear the stories of the producers and taste their food.
As part of the experience, you’ll also get a unique glimpse into the famous livestock market, seeing the sales in action and learning how this centuries-old tradition continues to support the producers and food culture that make Melton so special.
Tour costs £40 per person and last two hours.
The Tuesday market takes place from 7am to 1pm every week, with free entry for the public. This market extends the Melton Mowbray Town Centre market that trades on the same day, just a short walk away. Soak up our most bustling market day, chat with our friendly vendors and find unique items.
For vendors, it costs from £25 per table with an added £10 for any extra tables required. We always encourage new traders to join our friendly and supportive community.
While you are here, pay a visit to our Tavern Bar & Café, open from 7am until 3pm, which is known for its cosy atmosphere, friendly service and delicious locally-sourced food.
