Start 2026 with a Scenic Charity Walk at Belvoir Castle!

Looking for the perfect way to kick off the New Year in Melton Mowbray? How about fresh air, stunning views, and supporting a fantastic local cause?

On New Year’s Day (1 January 2026), Belvoir Castle, just a short drive from Melton, is inviting visitors to explore its breathtaking gardens and historic parkland for a Charity Walk in aid of Dove Cottage Day Hospice, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

For just £5 per person (with free parking included), you’ll enjoy access to the castle’s formal gardens and Capability Brown-designed landscapes. Every penny from ticket sales goes directly to Dove Cottage, a charity providing vital care for people living with life-limiting conditions across Leicestershire, Rutland, and Nottinghamshire.

Choose from three scenic routes, all clearly marked and mapped:
🌿 The Duke’s Walk – a gentle 3-mile circular trail featuring serene lakeside views, Lord Granby’s Cave, and the enchanting Root and Moss House. Perfect for families and those looking to start a new tradition!

Dove Cottage Day Hospice relies heavily on community support, with less than 4% of its funding coming from local government. “We simply couldn’t have survived for the last 30 years without our community,” says Dora Walls, Fundraising Lead.

Belvoir Castle’s Marketing Manager, Eleanor Melville, adds: “The New Year’s Day Walk is a wonderful way to bring people together in one of the most peaceful and inspiring settings on the estate.”

Dogs on leads are welcome, so no four-legged friends get left behind!

And if you can’t make New Year’s Day, the gardens and parkland will also be open on Boxing Day (26 December) for a festive ‘twixmas’ stroll.

🎟 Book your tickets now and start 2026 with a walk that makes a difference:
