11:00
Take a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of Melton, exploring boutique shops like White Boutique and Teasels. The Town Centre and the Stockyard hold regular markets on a Saturday which are always worth checking out. Don’t forget to pick up some souvenirs along the way at Foxy Lots and of course, no visit would be complete without stopping at the Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe!
13:00
Ready for lunch? Enjoy one of our independent restaurants, and be sure to try some of the town’s renowned specialties, like pork pies or Stilton cheese. Coco Tea Rooms and 54a King Street are both great choices.
14:30
If you really want to get to know Melton Mowbray, head to the Melton Carnegie Museum to dive into the town’s history. Discover fascinating exhibits and learn about our town’s rich heritage.
16:00
Time to take the weight off your feet for a while. Head to The Regal – a family run, award-winning cinema in the heart of the town. With beautiful decor and luxury sofas, this is a great place to add to your date.
19:00
We’re fortunate to have many delicious restaurants in Melton – they don’t call us the Rural Capital of Food for nothing! If you want to combine a little history with your dinner, try The Anne of Cleves – a pub steeped in 700 years of history. This charming 14th Century pub and beer garden lie under the watchful eye of St. Mary’s Church on Burton Street.
21:00
If you’re feeling like the night is still young, you’re in luck as we have a vibrant selection of pubs and bars. Craft beer can be found at Charley’s Bar and Round Corner Brewery – where you can even see where the beer is made. If cocktails are more your taste, head to Montero Lounge or Fur and Feather at the Stockyard.
Day 2: Sunday
8:30
It’s breakfast time and some of our favourite spots can be found on our highstreet such as More Coffee Co. or Kitchen and Coffee. Both offer a selection of sweet and savoury options – and coffee so good they put it in their names.
9:30
If you’re fully-ready to embrace our love of food and drink, take part in an ‘Ultimate Pie Making’ workshop at Brockleby’s. You’ll learn everything that you need to know to produce a traditional Melton Mowbray Pork Pie to rival the professionals – booking essential!
13:00
You’re sure to be hungry now, so take a drive to Belvoir Castle. Here you’ll find the Engine Yard, full of beautiful shops and restaurants including the Belvoir Bistro – serving locally sourced produce and seasonal favourites.
From February 17th 2024, you’ll find a unique pop-up market full of independent businesses at the Engine Yard, every weekend. Furthermore, every second and last Saturday of each month, they will be hosting a much larger market, with a gorgeous selection of food and artisan makers – beginning March 9th!
Once you’ve eaten, spend a couple of hours exploring the grounds of Belvoir Castle; perched on a hill with spectacular views of the Leicestershire countryside, this is an enchanting destination for a romantic weekend away.
16:30
No couples retreat would be complete without some relaxation, and we have an award-winning spa in the Borough. Finish off your weekend with a Twilight session at Ragdale Hall, where you can enjoy exceptional facilities, indulgent treatments and a candlelit dinner, in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside.
