New luxury tourist experience to launch in Melton Mowbray this spring.

Hidden Food Tours, a new walking food tour company based in Melton Mowbray, is launching a showcase for the diverse and rich culinary offerings of the East
Midlands, with the first tour due to take place in March.

The tour, spanning three hours, will take small groups to different venues and locations around the town, sampling the best local produce, and telling the story of
some of the best known foodstuffs in Britain – as well as some newer surprises! From the classic foods such as Stilton cheese and the pork pies that have taken the
town’s name around the world, to the newer producers. The tour will introduce guests to the wide range of food and drink from Melton and the surrounding area,
and tell the stories behind them.

Hidden Food Tours founders Charla Forinton and Matt Hall are neighbours in the local village of Stathern, and passionate foodies. Matt said;

Selection of pies

“We are lucky to have Melton Mowbray, the Capital of Rural Food, on our doorstep. Charla and I have spent ages swapping recipes and tipping each other off about new foodie finds. We love Melton and the great new places that have opened up in the town over the last few years, and we want to share them with as many people as possible.”

Charla added;

“Whenever I visit a new city I always try to find a food tour to join. They’re a great way of discovering the local food and history of a place and we want to bring that excitement to Melton. Hearing the stories behind the food, be it Stilton cheese or the spicy snacks produced by Samosa Wallah, based in the Stockyard, will bring the food of Melton and the Vale alive.”

Known for its traditional offerings of pork pies and Stilton cheese, Melton Mowbray is fast gaining a reputation for spawning newer culinary trends. From the award winning beers made at Round Corner Brewing in the town, to the Feast & The Furious smokehouse adding a touch of BBQ heat to Melton’s restaurant scene.

Hidden Food Tours aims to introduce Melton Mowbray as an evolving culinary destination by celebrating local producers – and connecting visitors with the town’s
rich history. With a strategic approach to marketing and strong partnerships, the business seeks to carve a niche in the growing food tourism industry.

Join Hidden Food Tours for a journey to discover the history, the tastes, and the stories of the artisan producers in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire – the Rural Capital of Food.
