Based in Market Harborough, Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra is quite a rarity, being one of only a handful of orchestras in the country made up entirely of saxophones. The orchestra features seven different types of sax, from the tiny sopranino to the giant contrabass sax, and makes a truly rousing sound.
Nominated for a national award by the Royal Philharmonic Society in 2021 and led by Musical Director Tony Rifugiato, Phoenix plays a varied repertoire that ably demonstrates the versatility of the saxophone. Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra is a registered charity whose aim is to celebrate and advance the art of music, and to bring the versatility of the saxophone to a wider community audience.
