The Bandstand is a listed Grade II Building and was listed in 1976 via Historic England. It’s original construction was circa-1908. Summer Bands Concerts – The Melton Band – Bandstand, New Park

Melton Mowbray Town Park, LE13 0PW, United Kingdom

The Melton Band can trace its history back to 1814 when a Town Band played for the Prince Regent and the Duke of Rutland, who were reported to have been in Melton Mowbray at the time. It is assumed that the majority of the instruments at that time were of the reed variety with little or no brass.
By 1838, The Melton Town Band was mentioned along with other bands as having taken part in the celebration of the coronation of Queen Victoria, being part of a procession that marched through Melton Mowbray. Although there have been a few name changes along the way The Melton Band continues to thrive to this day as a concert and contesting brass band in Melton Mowbray. Featuring popular band marches, beloved tunes from stage and screen, and chart-topping hits through the ages. Get ready to tap your feet and sing along to a diverse repertoire that promises to captivate audiences of all ages!
