Expect a ‘jamboree bag’ of wonders from a wide range of composers offering a variety of styles, and rhythms with more than a hint of blues
Event lasts 2 hours
A sophisticated sound…bluesy and breathtakingly ballsy. Peggy’s founders Rachel & Paul play their unique take on masters past & present.
Burrough Jazz is delighted to have secured the talents of Me Jones and Mr Jones. Rachel Foster (vocals) and Paul Deat (Piano) – the co-owners of Peggy’s Skylight in Nottingham – will bring their trio here with a completely contrasting performance to all the Christmas jollity, presenting a thoughtful selection of numbers, a real eclectic mix of songs, a ‘jamboree bag’ of handpicked wonders rarely heard nowadays from a wide range of composers, with a variety of styles, and rhythms with more than a hint of blues. Every one of these arrangements will be a gem, we promise you. You simply have to hear Foster’s interpretation of ‘Wichitaw Lineman’ (written by Jimmy Webb and first recorded by Glen Campbell in 1968); it’s an absolute treat. Foster’s laid back presentation and her warm contralto voice has rich range of vocal timbres and hues. Deat on Piano is creative and evocative. The third member of the trio will be confirmed in due course.
